Karlie Kloss is ranked third on the top 50 models women list and Vogue Paris has declared her as one of the top 30 models of the 2000's. She was born on August 3, 1992 and is one of America's top teen supermodels and ballet dancers.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois until her family moved to Missouri in 1995. She studied as a ballet dancer at the prestigious dance school in St Louis, and was in a number of performances such as the Nutcracker. She thanks her classical ballet training, teaching her how to move in the modelling world, which was a great training ground for her runway walk. When she was 13, she was discovered at a charity fashion show and was encouraged and inspired to model by one of her teachers. In 2007. She signed with Elite Model Management, alongside Chanel Iman. One of her first modelling jobs was for Abercrombie and she posed for the brands photography shot by Bruce Weber. In January 2008, she left Elite and signed with NEXT model management. She walked 31 runways in New York Fashion Week and closed for Marc Jacobs. She also walked 20 shows in Milan and 13 in Paris for the Autumn 2008 collections, with a total of a staggering 64 shows in a single season. As teen supermodels go, Kloss is very much sought after. Unfortunately, she found herself in the middle of a legal dispute when her former agency, Elite Model Management, was suing NEXT for allegedly stealing her way by offering her 'improper compensation' to sign. The case was eventually settled out of court but Elite basically felt they were responsible for launching the career and booking much of the work.
Karlie has several hobbies, including baking cookies, biking and ballet. Tyra Banks, the supermodel and media mogul, has stated on her Twitter account that Kloss is one of her favourite models right now because of her unique, atypical beauty. She can count several teen supermodels friendships as Jourdan Dunn, Toni Garrn and Ali Stephens.
The striking looking model has been in advertisements for Chloe, Lacoste, Alexander McQueen, Yves St Laurent, Dolce and Gabbana, American Eagle and Victoria's Secret PINK. She was named the best model by People magazine in 2008 and her famed runway walk is often referred to as a 'moody gait' Molly Sims, the American model and actress who has had appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, is one of her mentors, and told New York magazine,she thinks Kloss is the type of model who will 'still do well at 30' because of her classic look.
Karlie has also tried her hand at TV when she played herself in season four of Gossip Girl. She has become the muse for fashion designer John Galliano and has appeared in Christian Dior and John Galliano, opening both shows.
